Small Grants 2019

Each year the Parish Council makes small grants to local organisations. The opportunity to apply for a grant in 2019 is now open. The deadline for making an application is 30th June 2019.

2019 Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Friday 17th May 2019 in the Parish Hall, Chailey. It is hoped that as many people as possible will attend the meeting. There will be opportunities for those attending to raise questions about matters relevant to Chailey. Please take the opportunity to contribute to your village by coming along and taking part.

Are you interested in joining the Parish Council and becoming a Councillor?

It is very likely that, in May, the Parish Council will be looking to co-opt up to three electors to fill vacancies on the Council. Now is the time for anyone interested to come forward.

Changes to Bus Services

The Parish Council has received details of changes to bus services in Lewes District. Most changes, which include changes to services 31 and 121, take place with effect from a date in April 2019.

Result of Uncontested Parish Council Election

A notice has been published by the Returning Officer at Lewes DC giving the result of the election of Councillors to Chailey Parish Council. As fewer persons have been validly nominated (8) than there are seats on the Council (11), all those who were validly nominated have been elected as Councillors without contest.

The Council is aware that there is interest in play provision of some kind being provided in Chailey. It shares that interest.

The Defibrillators Have Arrived

The Council has installed three defibrillators in the Parish. These life saving machines are now available for use.

Chailey Common - Dog Waste

Many residents and visitors who walk dogs on Chailey Common pick up the waste left by their dog. Some do not, and are asked to do so.

The Parish Council would like to ensure that all local Clubs and Societies are mentioned in the relevant section of this website. Various Menu Headings list individual societies, organisations and clubs. Obviously, societies remain responsible for their own content.

Sheep may Safely Graze - on Chailey Green?

Our website now includes images of the many historic postcards which are held at the Windmill Rural Life Museum. One postcard of the Reading Room with sheep & cattle is based on an 1898 painting by William Sidney Cooper, who was a well-known Kentish artist.  The Parish Council would be interested to discover where the original painting is now kept. Can any of our readers help?
